Though pornographic, these films are subject to the same scholarly attention to discourse that greets mainstream cinema throughout the site. Caligula 2 - Messalina, Messalina (1976: d. Sergio Corbucci) The two Penthouse Pet stars from Caligula are re-united for this sexploitation comedy about a lascivious Roman Empress, utilizing leftover sets and costumes from the Brass-Guccione epic.
Caligula - The Untold Story (1979: d. Joe D'Amato) Veteran porn-horro maestro D'Amato takes on everyone's favourite demented Emperor, this time exploring his bisexual excesses an his persecution of Christians throughout the Empire (featuring Laura Gemser in a guest role).
Chameleon, The (1989: d. John Leslie) Tori Welles stars as a shape-shifter, a woman who can alter her physical appearance to take the form of many women, a sexual enigma who reveals all in therapy sessions with a psychiatrist she intends to seduce.
Cheeky (2000: d. Tinto Brass) Tinto Brass looks at the question of women's natural sexuality, finding that its uninhibited liberation is ill-served by the monogamous morality that Patriarchal culture often seeks to project upon young women. (links to main DVD Review Archive)
Dark Garden (1999: d. Michael Ninn) A device satisfies men's deepest sexual fantasies, but at the cost of their sanity and their life in this sci-fi tinged religious allegory from the master of transgressionist cinema, Michael Ninn.
Dog Walker (1994: d. John Leslie) One of the most acclaimed adult films of the 1990s: a dark, despairing film noirish vision of a two-time loser crossed, double-crossed and looking to sex to stake his claim on the world.
Emanuelle in America (1976: d. Joe D'Amato) The most controversial of the notorious Emanuelle movies starring Laura Gemser as the intrepid photo-journalist, this time involved in a world of no sexual restraint, a world where LSD and snuff movies feature with equal verve. Hot Buttered Blues (1997: d. Jace Rocker) Guest starring the legendary bluesman Louisiana Guitar Red, this is throwback to the 1960s as struggling blues club owner Ron Jeremy tries to recruit acts to stay in business, while his musicians and their groupies get it on!
Last Whore House on the Left (2004: d. Fred J. Lincoln) Star of Wes Craven's infamous slice of violent horror Last House on the Left Fred Lincoln returns to his evil persona from that film (once banned in Australia by the OFLC) to introduce this series of porn vignettes with young girls: "nice cum sir."
Models (1998: d. Kris Kramski) One of the most acclaimed of contemporary adult films. A vibrant behind -the-scenes expose of the world of hardcore porn photography - the business, the profession, the morality, the models and, of course, the sex: from the perspective of a cynical photographer.
Paprika (1991: d. Tinto Brass) Life in a Brothel. Before the Christians in Italy shut down the brothel society it thrived. Sex Life of the Prophet (2002: d. Anonymous) The Koran of Sex! Based on the sex life, sex after death and the re-birth of the Prophet Muhammad is this John Coil release detailing Muhammad's sexual escapades on earth and in paradise.
Sex Zone, The (1996: d. Paul Thomas) A hard-boiled tale of contemporary morality revolving around an after house sex club and a man who falls for an independent woman onlt to find that violence and amorality will threaten his ideal. Warning: contains explicit sex and violence.
Sextraterestrials (1999: d. Fred J. Lincoln) Agents Scuzzy and Mulder investigate the disappearance of an FBI agent, lured into a sexual frenzy by visiting aliens curious to learn the coital practices of earthlings in this porno pastiche of The X Files.
Stormy (1980: d. Joseph Blanski) The legend himself, John Holmes, stars opposite one of the first Chinese-American porn stars Linda Wong in this tale of pimp Big John, his business, his woman and the girls eager to join his operation.
